R.I.P Lashawna Threatt

News spread today throughout Atlanta and all around about the tragic death of aspiring model Lashawna Threatt. Lashawna Threatt died in the wee hours of the morning while celebrating her 30th birthday with friends at the W Hotel in midtown Atlanta. I first learned of this tragedy while watching the news this morning. When I logged in to Twitter, the story had already made it to the trending topics. Truthfully, I had no idea who Lashawna Threatt was. So I did a little research. Lashawna Threatt was an aspiring model from Atlanta, Ga who had appeared in a number of ads including Bigen Hair Color Company, Oxford Street, Moet, Hennessy, and Miller Lite. Looking through some of her pictures, she was a beautiful woman and did not deserve the end that she received. A harmless game led to her tragic death and her best friend's critical condition. Although I didn't know who Lashawna Threatt was while she was alive, I felt the need to write this because the story touched my heart. To die on your birthday, a day that is to celebrate life, is truly a tragedy.
